We’re honored to share that Orion has been selected to lead the design for the reconstruction of Taxiways C, D, F, and J at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).
This six-year effort represents one of the most significant airfield projects at HNL in recent years. As a key hub for trans-Pacific and interisland travel, HNL’s operational resilience depends on a robust taxiway system. This project will improve nearly every critical component of these taxiways — from pavement and drainage to lighting and geometry.
A Complex, High-Impact Project
The reconstruction of Taxiways C, D, F, and J will address aging infrastructure and align the airfield with current FAA standards. The project scope includes:
· Pavement Rehabilitation and Reconstruction
· Drainage and Electrical System Upgrades
· Construction Phasing and Stakeholder Coordination
With the airfield’s role as a vital connector in Hawaii’s airport network, careful planning and execution will be essential to keep passengers, cargo, and critical services moving during and after construction.
“It’s an incredible privilege to support the HDOT– Airports in delivering this important project for HNL. Our team is committed to thoughtful, forward-looking design solutions that strengthen Hawaii’s airfield infrastructure and keep its aviation network running safely and efficiently.” – Shannon Holman, PE, President | Project Manager
Building on a Strong Foundation
This project builds on Orion’s long-standing partnership with the Hawaii DOT. By leveraging lessons learned from our recent projects at HNL and across the state, we are committed to delivering smart, reliable, and progressive engineering solutions.
We are proud to help shape the future of Hawaii’s airfield infrastructure and to support the continued growth and safety of its aviation network.
